The Day I Went Pole Dancing
by Rob van Vuuren
My pole-dancing friends and I – I’m the classy one.
So Peugeot sent me pole-dancing. Obviously.
Clearly you don’t just get a free 208 Allure just for being awesome. Oh hell no. It seems there is a little torture involved too.
Peugeot said from the start that they wanted me to go a little out of my comfort zone during my tenure with the brand new 208 and that they intended to send me on some pretty interesting adventures while I zooted around on my fantastic new wheels, but pole-dancing?! Damn. That’s cold.
I suppose, considering that the catch-phrase for the launch of the car is ‘Let Your Body Drive’ as well as the fact that it has a decidedly sexy shape and that Peugeot have managed to shed a whopping 173kgs from the previous model, it kind of makes sense, but pole-dancing?! Me?!
Needless to say, I arrived at the POLE DANCE CAPE TOWN studio on Loop Street with an air of trepidation and a nervous sweat beginning to pool in my buttocks.
Nevertheless, I put on my headband like a man and minced over to Sherry, my instructor, who took me through a couple of basic moves.
Basic move 1 – wtf?!
Thereafter, Sherry found inventive ways of getting me to smear off large tracts of my skin.
Inner thigh skin – who needs it?
The whole experience was pretty exhilarating. Especially when i nearly popped a testicle.
In all seriousness though it’s a really cool way to stay in shape – it requires a massive amount of core strength and despite the pain it was a lot of fun. The instructors are great and there is a joyful camaraderie in the shared suffering. Do it. I dare you.
You may end up looking this good…
At the end of the day I’m glad I could let my aching body drive away in the welcoming and soothing comfort of my Peugeot 208.
This car really does have comfortable seats, a fact for which I was deeply grateful as I limped off into the sunset.
I urge you to book a test drive here… http://www.letyourbodydrive.co.za/…and find out for yourself.
In the meantime I’ll leave you with a picture of how incredible you could look if you pole-danced your way to awesomeness…
the road to awesomeness begins with this pole.
